I am absolutely blown away by how they not only have a phenomenal hotel that I consider to be a definite 5 star * but everything, and I mean right down to the finest accommodations, the cleanliness,the atmosphere and the service was above and beyond! From the very start of choosing this hotel, I just knew, just knew in my heart and in my gut which is always my go-to instinct, that I was going to love this place. The deciding factor was the ongoing response and constant contact that my conversations were heard and welcomed. David is by far the heart and soul of this.His standard of human kindness was always a natural response , and it seems to have gone away.He has restored and brought it here , and it truly makes a difference.I would choose this place, hands down, every time.I would be neglectful if I didn't mention Julia, who helped so much and in her humbling way ,would give all of the credits to David! How refreshing it is to encounter that! As the restaurant was beautiful, the food was delicious, the presentation was meticulously executed, and my server both times was Hubert, so kudos to the restaurant as well .Thank you all again, and I apologize for not having the names of all that helped achieve this amazing experience. We stayed at this hotel for four nights. The room was good and clean, which we appreciated. However, the room service definitely needs improvement. I ordered twice through the digital concierge (which is a nice feature), but both times there were issues. The first time, they forgot one of the burgers. I requested it again, waited 40 minutes, but no one came, so I had to cancel it. The next day, we ordered room service again, and once more, they forgot the French fries and a glass of wine. When I mentioned this to the staff member who delivered our order, she didn’t apologize and simply said, “The kitchen is in a hurry.” When I pointed out that this was the second time it had happened, her response was a dismissive “Yeah, okay.” That’s not the level of service you expect, especially when you’re hungry and just want to enjoy your meal. Later, a young man did come to apologize, which I appreciated. My recommendation would be to improve service efficiency and train staff to be more polite and attentive to guests. A little courtesy goes a long way!

Due to another flight cancellation I booked the hotel on our train ride to Basel. 1 hour later, we arrived, checked in a little early without any problem at all. We got off the tram right outside coming from Basel SBB couldn’t be any easier. the reception Johram and his colleague was wonderful and super helpful, throughout the entire stay. The property and room are beautiful, super clean, and very comfortable. Complimentary nespresso and mini bar was an icing on the cake. The complimentary hot and steam sauna was very much relaxing and needed after all those flight cancellations stress. Bohemia restaurant on site was delicious and beautiful. I would return. Thank you, Marthof and staff!

Very nice hotel building, excellent staff, good breakfast and also best location in Basel. I need to mention also the gym, the spa (free) and the room amenities : good quality slippers and bathrobes, Molton Brown body care. First we got a room on the front side of the hotel - the street side right to the train lines. Because we couldn’t stand the noise we kindly asked the receptionist to give us a quiet room. First they hadn’t a free room but they found in one hour and did their best to help us. We want to thank them for that.

Location was perfect, lovely building outside, smart and modern inside. Fantastic shower, good quality toiletries provided. Was worried about the room temperature after the other reviews but it was fine and the system was adjustable. There is so much to do close by but there is also a tram stop right outside, the hotel provides you with the Basel card so you can get right across the city quickly for free. The hotel is only 30mins from the airport in total using the free bus (no. 50) and tram (no.8)
